Health Records and Information Technology

The purpose of the program is to train health records and information officers who will complement the other health care providers in meeting the many and ever changing patient needs in our contemporary society and who will demonstrate competence in addressing and managing the emerging health care challenges locally, regionally and globally.

This will be achieved through the effective implementation of the institutional curriculum that is tailored towards realizing the institutional vision and mission of being a leading regional medical training college of excellence in training of health records and information officers and other health professionals

DIPLOMA IN HEALTH RECORDS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Description The Diploma courses in health records and information technology are designed to equip the students with knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable them harness patients’ data and information and conduct health systems research inorder to improve health care delivery.
Duration 3  years
Minimum educational qualifications Mean Grade: K.C.S.E score of C (Plain) and above)
MANDATORY SUBJECTS
  • English or Kiswahili C ( minus) and above
  • Biology C (minus) and  above
  • Mathematics or Physics or Computer studies C- (minus ) and above.

CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH RECORDS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Description The Certificate courses in health records and information technology are designed to equip the students with knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable them harness patients’ data and information and conduct health systems research in order to improve health care delivery.
Duration 1  and 1/2 years
Minimum educational qualifications Mean Grade: K.C.S.E score of C  -(Minus and above)
MANDATORY SUBJECTS
  • English or Kiswahili C ( minus) and above
  • Biology D+(Plus) and  above
  • Mathematics or Physics or Computer studies D+(Plus) and above.
